"Dance is in my soul. I can't not dance." - Krystal Lynch
I'm thrilled to share another Durham Dances shoot with y'all! The book is coming slowly but surely! I had an incredible time working with Krystal. We found some gorgeous locations right near Duke campus - just check out this amazing ivy wall!
If you haven't seen any other posts, Durham Dances is a book in the making! I am featuring great dancers at unique Durham locations to make a coffee table book. Get excited!
We scooted over to this woodsy spot and made a few dramatic images. Krystal was great and focused, even facing down the last of the summer mosquitoes! Top model style all the way.
And of course, I've always wanted to shoot in the Duke Graffiti Bridge/Tunnel. Krystal nailed these shots!
All about Krystal!
Where are you from?
I was born in Burlington, Vermont, and moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, when I was eleven. I've been in NC ever since.
What's your Durham connection?
I worked at Duke University ten years and rehearsed with dancers in my former dance ensemble, In Symmetry Dance.
When did you start dancing?
I started dancing when I was five, but I didn't start taking formal lessons until I was ten years of age.
What type of dancing that you do?
I'm primarily a contemporary/lyrical dancer, but I like to dabble in jazz and liturgical dance as well.
What made you keep going with dance?
Dance is in my soul. I can't not dance. I've faced some personal set backs including suffering an injury that sidelined me for a time. But I believe I still have more dances in me, more choreography to create, and more performances to share.
Thanks so much to Krystal for being amazing for the shoot! For more dance posts check out:
